Florida licensed midwives (LM), as authorized by 467, Florida Statutes, the Department of Health issues licenses, and by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) as Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) are experts in normal, low-risk, healthy pregnancies with specialized training in labor, birth and emergency skills in out of hospital settings. A Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) is a knowledgeable, skilled, and autonomous provider who has met the standards for certification set by the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and is qualified to provide the Midwives Model of Care.
