Establishing a foundation of trust while offering individualized care throughout the pregnancy journey.
Jessica has always been passionate about pregnancy and birth, even as a young child. After having two hospital births, Jessica had her last child at home with a midwife in Jacksonville. She decided to start her journey towards supporting families and completed doula training with local doula trainer Rae Davies.
Jessica began working as a doula and then, a few years later, became a birth assistant to many fantastic midwives in both homebirth and birth center settings.
After homeschooling her children and waiting until they were a perfect age and self-sufficient, she decided the time was right to pursue her passion. She attended the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery, a three-year direct-entry midwifery program in Gainesville, FL, and graduated in 2021. Jessica appreciates all parts of midwifery, particularly prenatal care, spending quality time getting to know each family and assisting in their transition to parenthood.
After spending over a decade in the Jacksonville, FL birth community and often working in busy birth centers, it became clear that spending more time one-on-one with families was the right path. Taking a limited number of families per month allows individualized care and a work-life balance that will allow Jessica to continue serving the community for years to come.
She is the mother of three wonderful young adults. When she is not working, you can find her growing a wide variety of plants in her food forest or taking care of the many animals that are part of the family, including a pony and a dozen chickens.
As a Florida LM, Jessica participates in regular Peer Reviews and Continuing Education opportunities. She is certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and Basic Life Support/CPR.
